WEEK 5: Big Win

We had another solid week with big wins versus Monroe and Lynnwood. It is very tough to win at Monroe and we played great that night. Bre started us off early with a goal two minutes in and that all our defense needed.  Led by Madi, Kerra and Kat we recorded two consecutive shutouts.  My favorite goal of the week was the header that Mckenzie put in off of a corner from Marisa. Nice work girls. The focus for next week is improving our communication.

Week 4: 14-1

Wow! What a great week. We outscored Mt. Vernon, Stanwood and Bothell 14 -1 this week. Kat, Madi, Kerra and the rest of the defense played great. Up front we scored some sweet goals. One of nicest was a our 5th against Bothell. Danielle one touched a cross from Bre right into the bottom corner. A great finish to a fun week. The JV won all three also. Jesse had a sweet hat trick against Stanwood. Nice job!

Let the games begin

We completed a solid first week of WESCO action. I was very pleased with our 3-0 result against Lake Stevens and our JV 2-0 win. We have been focusing on defending and possession at practice. I thought our defense was solid and we had glimpses of good possession but we still have lots of work to do. Our Snohomish game was a heart breaker. Overall, it was an awesome high school soccer game. Both teams had chances but we failed to capitalize on our opportunities and lost 1-0 as Snohomish scored in the last 3 minutes. I was pleased with our adjustments at halftime and the girls played a great second half. This is a long week with 3 games. Our goal is to try to get 3 shutouts. Go Eagles!

Week 2

We just finished a great week of practice with a solid performance at our Jamboree today. We played Lakewood for 20 minutes. We had 75% of the possession but tied 0-0. We then played Stanwood and beat them 1-0. I need to be reminded that we can never play a "friendly" with Stanwood. As for the JV, they rolled 2-0 in both of their 20 minute games. We have a our first game on Tuesday at Lake and I am excited to see how we play.  A reminder that the cookie dough fundraiser is due next Friday.

Week 1

We had a great first week or tryouts and practice. It is always a difficult week for the girls and coaches but now that we are through it I am very excited. We have a great young core in the program with a group of very solid upper classmen to lead them. I am looking forward to the Jamboree this Saturday at Lakewood. Please get your spirit pack forms to Mr. Davis as soon as possible.

Already July

We had great turnouts in June averaging more than 25 girls at each training session. Best part is we have been able to run full field scrimmages every time. I have been really impressed with the improvement of many of the players and the talent of the 9th graders. We are focusing on possession and playing quick combination soccer. Tryouts are less than two month away. At this point, I have seen more than 50 girls at trainings. Wow! I am expecting a large turnout at tryouts. See you on every Monday and Wednesday morning at 9 AM throughout the summer on the soccer practice field.

Solid Turnout

We have had a great turnout these first couple of days. There were over 40 girls at our first workout on Monday. It looks like a great group of freshmen to complement our upperclassmen. I am looking forward to a fun summer and a great season

Sunday, June 2, 2013

It starts Monday.

Here we go! We will start training on Monday after school from 3-4:30. Plan to meet on the practice field. We will work on some skills and then scrimmage. I hope to see all the girls interested in playing next fall. We will workout on Monday's and Wednesday's throughout the summer.
